OLD & NEW TRADITIONS

TOPPING OUT CEREMONY

The TOPPING OUT CEREMONY is an old tradition held once the last beam is placed atop a structure, giving thanks to the forest god.  It's a fun tradition that Jim Bridger Construction is happy to do for your new home.

Scandinavian mythology believed each tree had a spirit of its own, and that people originated from trees and returned to trees after death.

Before constructing a home, the builders would ask the forest to allow them to use a tree. After the home was constructed, the highest leafy branch of the tree was attached to the roof, so that the tree spirit might still have a place to live.

A NEW TRADITION

To continue with honoring the tree spirits and your new home, we would like to donate a pine or maple sapling.  It's important to us, to give back to the earth what has been taken.  Replenishing is important and necessary
